Electricity has long been recognized as a serious workplace hazard. OSHA’s electrical standards are designed to protect employees exposed to dangers such as electric shock, electrocution, fires, and explosions. Electrical hazards are addressed in specific OSHA standards.
While many shops will work on vehicle electrical systems, the electrical systems for the building are often overlooked. It is important that the shop owners provide electrical safety training for employees. It is also important that building electrical systems are inspected and maintained so as to comply with electrical codes.
